After a few days of living in the hostel we were told that we were going to be moving into a smaller room, as our room was having its door fixed. We were going to be moving into that room with our new long term roommate Dee, and our on again, off again roommate Martjin. I just thought that I would post about these two people as I would be living with them for a considerable amount of time, and they will inevitably become a part of my travels. Soo how do I describe Martjin and Dee - well I think that I will start with Martjin.
Martjin is the same age as me – I think; around 21 / 22 and he comes from Holland. He is possibly the most laid back person who I have ever met – he is happy go lucky and is always smiling. The thing that sticks most in my mind about Martjin is that he liked bread – a lot!! Every day he would eat a loaf of bread – dry, and I think that, that was the only thing he ate, he would carry the bag of bread with him wherever he went. I could never quite figure out, if it was a way to save money or if he was a carbohydrate fiend, but that pretty much sums up Martjin, a happy, friendly guy with a bread fetish.
Now where on earth do I start with my other roommate Dee, she may be reading this now, she is both the best, and the worst person that I have ever meet, though her bad points are funny so I suppose she is the best. Dee is – ummm – eccentric, she is very posh and went to private school “Darling”, she would lie in bed until 2pm, arise and then demand, that someone went and got her food, she has a dry sense of humour and is extremely blunt – she used to climb into my bed and demand that Adam got her a McDonalds or she would not leave – ever . On anyone but Dee these qualities would be a deal breaker, however on Dee it is so funny – she is very witty and it is all tongue in cheek, it’s just the way that she is. The majority of the time she was the best roommate that I could have asked for, she slept late, let me use her stuff, and was above all a good friend (I am so cringe).
The reason for this post is to give you an idea of the people who were, at this point in my life, the ones I saw every day, these are the people who I would go on day trips with, go clubbing with or just sit in bed watching a movie with – Travel is about the people who you meet along the way, and at this point of my journey these were the most important to me.
